HABIT GOLF WEEK

Montreux Riviera · 10th Edition Preview
Tentative Edition #10 24 – 28 May 2027 Base: Montreux Montreux · Evian · Crans-Montana 29 May Rail Option

The 10th Habit Golf Week is taking shape on the Swiss Riviera.

The 2027 idea marks the 10th edition of Habit Golf Week and moves the tradition to Montreux: a walkable Lake Geneva base with golf at Montreux and Evian, plus Crans-Montana as the mountain wildcard. The core week is tentatively Monday 24 May to Friday 28 May, with Saturday 29 May held for a Glacier Express Excellence Class add-on.

Trip Shape

DatesMon 24 May – Fri 28 May 2027
StatusTentative preview; hotels, tee times, and rail plan not yet booked.
BaseLa Villa Montreux as the suggested base hotel, subject to availability.
Golf target3 candidate rounds, with a 4th round possible if the week stays relaxed.
Extra daySat 29 May: Glacier Express Excellence Class concept.

Why It Works

Montreux gives the week a strong non-golf centre: lakefront walks, easy restaurants, Chillon, Lavaux, and quick train access along the Riviera. The course mix is also properly varied: flat parkland at Montreux, championship theatre above Evian, and alpine drama at Crans-Montana if the logistics feel worth it.

Suggested Base Hotel: La Villa Montreux

La Villa Montreux looks like the right first hotel target for the 2027 base: small, characterful, directly in Montreux, and close to the lakefront rhythm that makes this destination work.

Candidate Courses

The first pass is Montreux and Evian as the natural anchors, with Crans-Montana as the bigger, more ambitious mountain day.

Golf Club Montreux

Anchor Round Est. 1900

Despite the name, the club sits in Aigle, close enough to make it the cleanest golf day from a Montreux base. It gives the week a historic Swiss start without forcing a long transfer.

Wildcard Alpine Day

The Severiano Ballesteros course at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre is the prestige mountain option. It is likely the most memorable round, but also the one that turns a relaxed week into a longer travel day.

Early Read

Montreux + Evian should be the core. Crans-Montana is the special day, but it needs a tee time and transport plan that do not punish the evening. A fourth round could be a replay at Montreux or a lighter local alternative once the hotel and restaurant base is clearer.

Day-by-Day Preview

Day 1 – Monday, 24 May · Arrival in Montreux

AfternoonIndividual arrivals into Montreux; check in and settle near the lakefront.
EveningWelcome drink on the Riviera and an easy first dinner in Montreux or Vevey.

Day 2 – Tuesday, 25 May · Golf Club Montreux

MorningShort transfer to Aigle for the first round at Golf Club Montreux.
AfternoonLunch at the club or back on the lakefront; keep the day deliberately easy.
EveningDinner in Montreux, Vevey, or nearby Clarens.

Day 3 – Wednesday, 26 May · Evian Resort Golf Club

MorningCross-border golf day at Evian Resort Golf Club, subject to tee time and transfer details.
AfternoonLate lunch or aperitif in Evian-les-Bains before returning to Montreux.
EveningKeep dinner close to the hotel after the longer day.

Day 4 – Thursday, 27 May · Crans-Montana Option

Option AMountain round at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre, if the group wants the full alpine version.
Option BRest day around Chillon, Lavaux, or a lighter local activity if Evian already made the week travel-heavy.

Day 5 – Friday, 28 May · Final Riviera Day

GolfPossible second local round, replay at Montreux, or flexible day depending on the Crans decision.
EveningFarewell dinner in Montreux/Vevey unless the Glacier Express group positions to Zermatt that night.

Extra – Saturday, 29 May · Glacier Express Excellence Class

ConceptOptional premium rail day on the Glacier Express in Excellence Class.
Reality CheckThe Glacier Express runs between Zermatt and St. Moritz, so the best version likely requires positioning to Zermatt on Friday evening or adding a separate overnight.

Glacier Express Excellence Class

This is the premium flourish for Saturday 29 May: panoramic Swiss rail, table service, and a full-day route across the Alps. It is also the piece that needs the most logistics work.

Glacier Express Excellence Class coach

Most Plausible Plan

Fri 28 MayCheck out of Montreux after the golf week and transfer to Zermatt for the night, or skip the final dinner and make the move after lunch.
Sat 29 MayTake the Glacier Express Excellence Class from Zermatt towards St. Moritz.
AfterwardsOvernight in St. Moritz/Chur or continue onward depending on flights and stamina.

Why It Needs Early Work

Excellence Class is capacity-limited and date-sensitive. The practical question is not whether it is attractive; it is how to avoid turning the end of the golf week into an exhausting transfer puzzle.

The page should stay marked as preview until route direction, hotel nights, luggage handling, and reservation windows are checked.
