One of Italy’s most prestigious and historic golf clubs, set among wooded hills near Lago di Montorfano. Designed by Peter Gannon in 1926, the course winds through chestnut, birch, and stone pine woods at an altitude of 450m in the sunny Brianza. The landscape has been compared to Scotland – and this centenary course is the centrepiece of our trip.
| Location | Via per Cantù 13, 22030 Montorfano CO |
| Course | 18 holes, Par 69, 5,760 yards |
| Green Fee | ~€120 per person per round |
| Closed | Tuesdays (our itinerary avoids this) |
| Phone | +39 031 200200 |

The second-oldest golf club in Italy, founded in 1907 by four English gentlemen on the western shore of Lake Como. Redesigned by John Harris in 1965, the course winds along the slopes of Monte Crocione with jaw-dropping panoramic views of the lake and the Dolomites. Narrow fairways and steep inclines make it a genuine challenge – and an absolute bucket-list course.
| Location | Via Wyatt 54, 22017 Menaggio CO |
| Course | 18 holes, Par 70 |
| Green Fee | ~€100–120 per person |
| Facilities | Driving range, pro shop, restaurant, historic library |

By car (recommended): Zürich to Como is ~220 km / 3 hours via the A2 and Gotthard Tunnel. Route: Zug → Schwyz → Lake Lucerne → Gotthard → Ticino → Lombardy.
Vignette: CHF 40 (Swiss motorway)
Scenic alt: Gotthard Pass with a stop in Andermatt.
Parking in Como: DBH has no on-site parking. Nearby Autosilo Centro (~5 min walk) is recommended.
| Highs | 22–25°C |
| Lows | 13–15°C |
| Sunshine | ~13 hours per day |
| Rain | Possible afternoon showers |
| Pack | Layers, sunscreen, light rain jacket |
Strongly recommended: fly into Zürich (ZRH). This is by far the easiest option – it puts you directly with the Swiss contingent for the shared drive to Como (~3 hours). Icelandair and other carriers fly Reykjavík (KEF) → Zürich with good frequency in May.
| Best airport | Zürich (ZRH) — direct drive to Como, join the group convoy |
| Alternative | Milan Malpensa (MXP) — ~1 h drive to Como, no direct flights from KEF |
| Avoid if possible | Bergamo (BGY) — see note below |
If you do land at Bergamo (BGY): Bergamo Orio al Serio airport is ~55 km from Como. Options from the airport: take the FlixBus or Autostradale coach direct to Como San Giovanni station (~1 h, ~€10), or grab a taxi/rideshare (~45 min, ~€70–90). There is no convenient train connection. Note that Bergamo involves an extra leg vs. flying into ZRH – factor in the added time and cost.
| Green Fees | ~€460 (4 rounds) |
| Hotel | ~€1,600 (5 nights) |
| Dining | ~€400–600 (5 evenings + lunches) |
| Transport | ~€60–120 (fuel, tolls, parking – shared) |
| Total | ~€2,520 – 2,780 |
